We design a small number of considered homes each year for clients who understand that the home they build is among the most meaningful investments of a lifetime; emotionally, aesthetically, and financially. We approach that responsibility with great care.

Every decision is considered through the lens of longevity, aesthetics, craftsmanship, and the lives lived inside the homes we create. We design for clarity, purpose, and enduring integrity, and we believe a home conceived this way becomes one of the most quietly powerful assets a family can hold.
Who we work with.
We work most closely with clients across Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast, the Gold Coast, Byron Bay, and Sydney who value thoughtful, high-end design and a deeply considered approach to the way they live. Most of our projects involve close collaboration with a builder, and consultant team, with build values typically above $1.5M.
Each project is custom. Each engagement is carefully shaped to the specific scope, lifestyle, and ambitions of the client within the framework of our three studio offerings.

Where the architectural framework is in place -- or being delivered by a separate architect -- and your home is ready for a fully considered interior layer. We refine spatial planning, design joinery, create technical documentation for trades, curate materials, lighting, and finishes, and guide procurement and installation through to completion. Atelier is the layer that gives a home its soul. Where the architecture and interior architecture are resolved, we curate furniture, lighting, artwork, and soft furnishings - every piece chosen to sit effortlessly within the considered design vision of your home. Every project is unique, and while our design process remains consistent, the scope, complexity, and specific requirements of each home can vary significantly. Following our initial conversations and design brief, we prepare a tailored proposal that reflects the unique needs and aspirations of your project.

Atelier fees vary more widely than our architectural and interior design services, shaped by the calibre and scale of the project, as well as its furnishing budget, which can range from approximately $150,000 to multi-million-dollar furnishing investments. We pass on our trade discounts wherever available and can manage purchasing, delivery coordination and final styling on behalf of our clients, with these services billed on an hourly or daily basis according to the level of involvement required.

NBD Studio is a separate, design-led service. It is not a smaller version of Natalie Boyd Design House; it is a different offering entirely, more direct and shaped for those who want design direction delivered with clarity and momentum.

Those building or renovating with new homes and renovations under $1M, and interiors under $500,000, who value good design and are ready to move with confidence.

How it differs from our studio offerings
Where our Signature, Curated, and Atelier engagements are deeply bespoke and documented to an architectural standard, NBD Studio offers the essence of that thinking through a streamlined path. We bring the spatial planning, design direction, and materiality, resolved to a build-ready standard with simpler documentation.

A 3D model, further refinements, and high-end detailed joinery design are available as add-ons where a project calls for them.

Should your project ever evolve toward something more bespoke, there is a natural path into our full studio engagements, with your initial design direction carried forward.

NBD Studio is offered as fixed-fee stages, with most design engagements falling under $50,000 for our design fees.

Our Signature architectural and interior design process is a considered, end-to-end approach designed to remove complexity, protect your investment, and deliver exceptional outcomes.
Project Stages
INTRODUCTORY DESIGN CALL Once you've submitted your project through our Enquiry Form, the next step is a fifteen-minute call with Natalie. It's an opportunity to discuss your project requirements, lifestyle, vision, site, timeline, and investment, so we can both get a clear sense of whether our studio is the right fit for your project. From there, if we both feel it's a strong match, we move on to a tailored Design Proposal.
DESIGN PROPOSAL We prepare your Design Proposal; a clear, written articulation of everything we've shaped together. It outlines the full scope of work, the design stages from concept through to construction, fees, timeline, and contractual terms, so every aspect of your engagement is defined before we begin. Once the proposal is signed, we move into a Vision Session. This an in-depth exploration of your design brief, and from there, the design stages begin.
SITE ANALYSIS & APPROVAL STRATEGY We design with approval in mind from day one. Before any concepts are developed, we review site conditions, existing documentation, and relevant planning, zoning, and environmental controls. This early analysis confirms approval pathways and reduces risk, delays, and redesign later in the process.
CONCEPT DESIGN This is where the vision takes shape. We coordinate site surveys and develop the foundational ideas for your home, exploring spatial layouts, x3 floor plans, architectural form, materiality, and overall aesthetic direction. The concept design sets the creative and functional framework for the entire project.
DESIGN DEVELOPMENT Your concept is refined into a resolved design. We develop a detailed 3D digital model; carefully refining proportions, aesthetics, architectural elements, and spatial relationships. At this stage, architecture, interiors, and functionality are aligned to ensure the design works beautifully as a whole.
DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTATION Precision is everything. We produce a comprehensive set of detailed drawings and documentation that translate the design intent into a build-ready format. These documents guide engineers, builders, and trades, ensuring the project is priced accurately and constructed exactly as designed
CABINETRY & JOINERY DESIGN Our joinery design is treated as architecture. Every element is meticulously designed; from layouts and storage optimisation to material selection, moisture resistance, plumbing coordination, and hardware detailing. This ensures both beauty and long-term performance.
DOCUMENTATION & FF&E FINALISATION All design decisions are locked in. We consolidate and refine all FF&E, joinery, and construction details into one cohesive, fully coordinated, build-ready design package.
FURNISHING DESIGN & SELECTIONS A home is not complete without considered furnishings. Integrated into our 3D model, we curate furniture, lighting, accessories, and artwork to complement the interior architecture; delivering a cohesive, layered, and highly resolved final outcome.
TENDER & CONSTRUCTION SUPPORT We remain closely involved as your project moves into build. Our team assists during tendering, builder coordination, and construction, ensuring design intent is protected and questions are resolved efficiently as they arise.
FURNITURE, FURNISHING & PROCUREMENT Our clients benefit from complete transparency. We work directly with trusted suppliers and artisans, sharing trade pricing and coordinating procurement while authorising payments directly between you and the supplier, ensuring clarity, confidence, and control throughout the process.
