One of the first things people ask us is: “What exactly do I need?"

And it’s a fair question.

You might be building a new home and need everything. You might already have plans but need help making the interiors beautiful and functional. You may love your home but have absolutely no idea where to start with furniture. Or perhaps you simply need an experienced designer beside you for a day to help make some big decisions.

Not every project needs the same level of design support — which is exactly why we offer different ways to work with us.

Here’s the simple version of our four studio tiers:

SIGNATURE

Architecture + Interiors + Furnishing

This is our comprehensive flagship service.

Signature is for clients who want us involved from the very beginning, designing the home itself as well as everything that happens inside it.

We look at how you want to live, your budget, your site, how the rooms should connect, the exterior, airflow, sun aspect and natural ventilation, where the kitchen should sit, how much storage you actually need — and then continue right through to the cabinetry, bathrooms, lighting, flooring, stone, furniture and finishing touches.

We take care of the town planning, DA approvals, liaising with structural engineers and builders and creating construction-ready documentation and drawings. We coordinate and communicate the whole design process from conception to completion, taking away the stress of organising different services and piecing everything together yourself.

Best for: New homes and major renovations where you want one team overseeing the complete design from the first concept through to the final cushion being placed.

REFINE

Interior Design

Perhaps the house itself has already been designed. You have plans, an architect, building designer or builder — but now there are hundreds of decisions to make about the inside.

That’s where Refine comes in.

We take the existing plans and develop the interior to maximise both the functional and the aesthetic: kitchens, bathrooms, cabinetry, lighting, flooring, stone, tiles, colours, finishes and all those details that ultimately determine how the home feels.

And importantly, we make sure those decisions work together rather than choosing everything in isolation.

Best for: Projects where the architectural plans are already underway, but you want us to take care of the complete interior design.

LAYER

Furniture + Styling

Layer is for homes where the building and interiors are essentially complete, but the rooms themselves still need to come together.

We select furniture, rugs, lighting, artwork and accessories to create a home that feels finished rather than simply furnished.

We can also manage ordering, suppliers, deliveries and installation — particularly helpful when you're furnishing an entire home rather than buying a few individual pieces.

Best for: Completed or nearly completed homes that need furniture, artwork and those final layers.

DISCOVER

A Full Day With Natalie

Sometimes you don’t need a complete design service.

You just need someone experienced sitting beside you saying, “Yes, do this. Don’t do that. Move this. Choose that one. Here’s what I would change.”

That’s Discover.

It’s a full day dedicated entirely to your project. We might review your plans, rethink a kitchen, work through finishes, visit suppliers, solve a tricky layout or tackle a long list of decisions together.

You leave with clear direction and a practical way forward.

It’s also a lovely way to experience working together before committing to a larger project. If you decide afterwards to move into our full-service design offering, your Design Day fee is credited towards your Stage One Design Fee.

Best for: Anyone who needs expert direction and wants to make a lot of progress in one focused day.

AND THEN THERE’S NBD STUDIO

NBD Studio is a little different.

We created it because we were meeting clients who really valued good design and wanted our creative direction and expertise, but simply didn’t need the depth of our full-service process.

NBD Studio is designed for new homes and renovations generally under $1M, interiors under $300,000, and selected boutique commercial projects.

You still get strong design thinking, layouts, material direction and a clear design to take forward — we simply remove some of the extensive documentation, detailed modelling and ongoing involvement that comes with our full studio service.

Think of it as a more direct, streamlined way to work with us.

Most NBD Studio design engagements are delivered in fixed-fee stages and fall below $50,000 in design fees.

So, which one do you need?

You actually don’t need to know.

That’s our job.

Tell us what you’re building, renovating or trying to solve, where you're at now and roughly what you're planning to invest in the project.

From there, we can tell you which level of involvement makes sense — including when we genuinely think you don’t need the more comprehensive option.

Because the goal isn’t to give every client the biggest design service.

It’s to give you the right amount of design support for your project — and make the whole process a lot easier to navigate.
